I define American culture as a culture that thinks they are the best. Even when others prove to americans that they're culture is better we won't except it. We think we are the best and that everyone should follow our way of life. Immigrants are viewed as a lesser person in the media. We think that because they are immigrating into our country that we are super great sense they all want to be here. However the main reason that most people immigrate is because the place that they live currently or used to live is unjust. USA is supposed to be "free" and have "justice for all" but this is very rarely the case. Children of immigrants are represented as dumb because they weren't raised here. People think that America is so superior compared to everywhere else, so when someone is labeled as an immigrant they are thought of at not as good as a "true american" ironically everyone besides the Native American are immigrants to America.

In the photo there is an immigrant posing for a picture to try to portray their feelings. The photo is also set up to give you some clues on where these people are from. This photo reminds me of my phone case because my phone case has a really cool elephant on it as well. This photo suggests that children immigrants are depressed. Someone else could interpret this photo as cool because the painting in this photo are very interesting. This is related to Garcia Girls because in the book the girls are stripped of their dominican culture and forced to learn American cultural norms. In this photo it looks like the girl is sad that she has to do the same thing that the Garcia girls went through.

Inner-tubing Adventure

On a dark night in Minneapolis I decided to go tubing down the Minnehaha creek and it was one of my biggest mistakes ever. Me and my friends had been planning to do tubing down the creek for a while but never got around to actually doing it. It was about 5:00 pm. My friend Nick texted me and he asked if I wanted to float down the creek with two guys named Zeke and Luke? I said yes, but Nick didn't end up picking me up until after 7:00 pm. The sun was still out but we were running out of day light. Before hopping into the river we had to blow up the inner-tubes. That took a lot longer than what we expected so we didn't in the creek until around 7:20. We were having a good time in the beginning of the adventure, but the creek that was extremely high because of all the recent rain that Minneapolis had received. They had warned my about a dam ahead but said it was no big deal. As we are approaching the dam there is a huge sign that say WARNING DAM 800 FT AHEAD. This sign was when I first started feeling like this wasn't the best idea.

When we could hear the dam I was starting to get scared, it sounded so powerful. When we started to get closer Zeke said that if you stay to the right side you'll get through fine. Me and the other two were to frightened and we wanted to get out and walk around. We stayed over to the left and watched Zeke make it through competely fine. Nick and Like decided they wanted to try to make it through the dam. I didn't want to seem like a chicken so I went with them. On the way over to the right side I looked down the terrifying rapids and became very scared of the dam and tried to go back over to the left side and go around. This was the wrong choice, about half way through the current became to strong and it pulled me into the dam. I was thrown off my tube and my whole left side of my body got bruised and cut up. I made it through the stone hard dam with minor injuries compaired to what could've happened.

We still had about 1 hour and 30 mins left of creek to travel. This was when the moths came out. The sun had set now and as soon as the darkness came so did the millions of moths that flew franticly around for 4 to 5 minutes and then we would get a break but soon enoug they could come back. This is how the remainder of the trip went and it was so unbarable but the only option we had because walking would take so much longer. Advanchually we arrived at the spot where the other car was parked and we dried off. Zeke and Luke brought me and Nick back to Nick's car and then nick dropped me off at home. I was freezing cold, covered in bruises and cuts. So if you ever want to go floating down a river or creek make sure you do not go at night.

Aboriginal

1. I selected Aboriginal Australian, because I have never been to Australia and I would like to learn more about it.

2. This is a dying language because Aboriginal groups are small and scattered from conflict with white settlers, a lot of them died, and the ones who survived struggled to keep their language and culture alive.

3. To keep this language alive I would try to find a large amount of Aboriginal people and get them together.

4. Bruh, its a word that you use to call upon one of your friends, it's another form of bro which is short for brother so your kind of calling someone your brother.

    Icey, that is beyond awesome, something so cool that it's on a whole new level.

    Dip, running really fast, when you're going as fast as you possibly can.

    Dangle, deking someone out really good in any sport, this word came from hockey and it means when you make your defender look silly from your stickhandling moves.

    Max out, eating a lot of food, when you eat enough food to feed 3 people.

5. My generation can try to keep these words alive by using them often. Also we could teach them to our children so that they continue to stay them, and they possible tell there children etc.

Blog Post #3: What's Current Creates Currency

1) MTV music videos doesn't display many values at all, anything goes in music videos and I think that is why it is so appealing to teens.

3) No, it doesn't dictate what we believe of reflect our beliefs and culture values. Everyone is initialed to their own opinion, the type of music that we listen to doesn't always have an influence over what we think.

4) Music become popular by multiple people listening to it. Pop art can be real art, you can almost consider anything as art. Anything that a person creates is their art.

5) Music is used in certain types of media to appeal to certain types of audiences. On channels like Nick and Cartoon Network the media is mostly directed towards the youth to try to get them hooked on their product. They use music that the general population of the group that they are targeting will like.

6) Music influences peoples ideologies with the lyrics that the artist choice to use in their songs. If an artist is talking about being peaceful and love the people that listen to it are more likely to act more peaceful. If that person listens to a pump up song with lyrics that are a little more harsh that person is more likely to be in a more aggressive mood.

"Three things cannot be hidden long, the sun, the moon, and the truth"- Teen Wolf
 I try to live by this quote because it has so many different meanings behind one quote. When it says that the sun cannot be hidden for long it means that even if you had a bad day another one will come. So don't stay in the past; look forward to the next day and how you are going to make the next day a better day. When it says the moon cannot be hidden for long it means that every day has an end. Once the sun has set and the moon comes out the day is done. So if you haven't had the best day instead of continuing that bad day try to have a good night. The last part of this quote is my favorite. The truth cannot be hidden for long. Although lying can sometimes be easier because the truth can hurt, it is better to tell them the truth and get it over with, instead of creating a lie.
